Where is it found in highest concentrations (excluding metabolic processes)?
Is it found in dark red foods, such as dark red apple skins, red wines, or specifically, HIBISCUS?
Plus any ideas about the benefits or effects?
Anyone know a good source of pyruvate? details...?

Nutritional supplements are important for at least two simple reasons. The first is that many of us rely overly too much on fast foods and highly processed foods. And the second rationale for nutritional supplements is that evidence continues to mount that many of the nutrients and health promoting substances that we might take to achieve optimum health levels cannot be obtained through normal diet alone.
Reply:Pyruvate, a salt form of pyruvic acid, is available in small amounts from some vegetables and fruits, dark beers and red wine. It is a by product of sugar metabolism, so the human body produces all it needs, unless there is some metabolic anomoly.
Reply:Pyruvate is the result of metabolism of glucose known as glycolysis. The only known source of pyruvate is metabolism in cells. There are no other ways of getting pyruvate other than from metabolic processes. You can isolate it in the lab but if you want to obtain it any other way other than by means of glycolysis it is insufficient. I am don't know if certain foods are more rich in pyruvate than other foods. I would think that foods or meats with higher concentrations of glucose also give way to higher concentrations of pyruvate.

Beach and period?
ok.... i started my period today (just my luck) and anyway i was going to go to the beach tomorrow. i wear tampons but i am still afraid of the blood and shark thing. where we go.... there are lots of "small" sharks -mostly hammerhead... if that makes a difference- but.... i am thinking of not going now :( i am terrified of the idea of sharks. also i would probably be at the beach for about 8hrs. and when i first start my period it tends to be some what heavy. there is no bathroom where we go (we have to go in the water) so i am afraid of that issue of if i need to change my tampon. i would use supers but i have never used those before and i know they have a thing with TSS and idk. what should i do? i would absolutely hate to leak at the beach :(
oh and my bathing suit is black with white hibiscus flowers on it so thats good i guess.
Beach and period?
Hmm, tough one. I would say if the bleeding isn't heavy than it's probably ok to go in the water, just not too far out. If your period is already heavy then maybe it's something you should think twice about. As far as I know it's never been proven that a women menstruating in the water will attract a shark but I guess you just can't be too careful. Oh and btw hammerhead sharks are not small!! Yikes!!
Reply:i have a really good answer! don't go to the beach! or just stay out of the water.
Reply:u should be fine. if it makes u feel better, dont go in deeper than mid chest. i doubt u will get n e stains, but have fresh tampons. dont worry about tss, jus change the tampon wen u can. have fun!
Reply:Tampax/Kotex/OB/Playtex super plus absorbency tampons.
Reply:hey
Nothing to worry about. You can wear your tampon for tomorrow but make sure that you are in the water. What will happen is that your periods will stop for the duration of time you are close contact with water.
Don't worry about sharks just make sure you are close by to the shore.
Have a good day at the beach : )

Iguana not growing?
I have two iguanas, one, the female, is only two and a half feet long and shes 3 years old. Why is she so small? I give her a diet of calcium sprinkled collard greens, mustard greens, yellow squash and the occassional hibiscus. The male is 1'9 and he isn't growin much either. They have their proper lizard heat bulb and a uvb light and a huge cage plus a shallow bowl thats big enough to get in a good soak. Their green iguanas and Im starting to get concerned that their so small, is it just because they havent hit their growth spurt yet? Ive taken them to a vet and they completely ignored the growth question and just started rounding up a surgrey cost because the female had a small bump on her leg, which we took her two a new vet and a few daily doses of medication cured it, obviously they didn't know what they were doing. Am I just having motherly worries or is this something I should really be concerned about?
Iguana not growing?
Just because iguanas can get huge doesn't mean all will, it sounds like they are healthy and well cared for, don't worry. Also iguanas grow slowly as they get older
Reply:maybe you haven't notice unless you have measured her, if so she just different not all iguana including animals of all kind grow at the same time they just different kinda like when you have a friend and he the same age as you, what the chance of him being the same height as you
but if this didn't help you i hope someone else give you a better answer or go to a vet or find a vet that specialize in reptiles on the internet and see if they provide their email and ask them
I've don this before checking for a email of a vet online
Reply:make sure you give your iguana plenty of fruit and veggie variety,
like carrots shredded, kale, squash like you give them now and lots of other healthy fruits. I had one and my vet said that as long as he was a good green color and active he was OK. good luck. also check with your local pet store and see if there is anything else you can give to them.

i like the second one...........................
it be really cute on your ankle..........
Reply:i like the 1st one. and i would put it where the model is wearing it. good luck!
Reply:number 3. I'm sleeved and 70% of my body.
i used to do tat's in seattle.
put in on your shoulder on your back
Reply:second or third
Reply:I like the 2nd one. You should put it on the back of your shoulder or on your lower waist
Reply:The third one.
Reply:I don't particularly care for any of them, but my favorite is the second one.
Keep in mind that, if you have to second guess yourself about which design to get, it is highly likely that you won't like it in the future. Make sure you are picking the right one.
Reply:I like 2, the pink hibiscus flower. It depends if this is your first or not. If it is, maybe your back shoulder, or above your ankle. Ask your tattoo artist, they might be able to help with placement and positioning it to look good on you.
Reply:number two on the ankle (small)
Reply:neither they're tacky!
Reply:the third and i would get it on my hip
Reply:1. Lower back on the left or right-hand side. It'd be cute for the picture to peek out whenever you jeans slide down a little.
2. I don't like this one.
3. This would be cute low on the front of your body, right above where your pantyline line would be if you're wearing low risers... I hope that made sense!
Reply:I like the flower on the third one, but I would probably ask the artist to add some leaves instead of the green fill. (But that's just me). Maybe you could put it on your shoulder blade, hip, or foot?
Reply:I like the 2nd one the best but id be mad if that was my tattoo and someone was going to get the same one. so id show that to your artist and see if they can change it up a little. id get it either on your hip or smaller on the top of ur foot
Reply:remember one day you will have kids and strech marks through tattooes are erally bad so not on the front hip. I would say somewhere where you wont gain wait in the future. Dont use one of those designs, make your own. this is something that is on your skin for life so make sure you love it.
Reply:i like either #1 or #2 only because i'm not a big fairy person and i like flowers a lot better. but its honestly up to you, and which one you would like better on your body.
the foot is always a nice place to put a tattoo. but it just depends on what you get, how big you get it, and where you want to put it. but another good place could be on your sholderblade.
i hope this helped! :)
Reply:I like the third one the most becuase I think as you get older(80s and 90s) the faerie will seem a little more childish. The second flower is very pretty and it seems like a more timeless flower. I would put it on the inside of your ancle or your should put it on a shoulder blade. You may consider a place that would be easy to cover up for job interviews or if you dislike it later on.

Anyone have these recipes please?
hya.as you may already know i have just returned from a wonderfull fortnights stay in sharm el sheik (sierra/savoy hotel ) would highly reccomend- along with all the cultural trips fantastic-can,t wait to return) at breakfast we were served the most delicous of pancakes accompanied by chocolate/caramel sauce with a variety of coconut or raison toppings...does anyone have the recipe please.(sauces also if possible).also how do i buy/make the very refreshing hibiscus cordial/.juice drink..can only find the rosehip-hibiscus mixture teabags here and its not the same..thanks.....rose
Anyone have these recipes please?
Hello Rose,
First of all i am glad u had such a wonderful time and i hope u do come and visit Egypt and Sharm again.
I am quite sure that the pancakes u were served were different from the ones u r used to coz they serve a type of crepe and not pancake in most hotels in Sharm.
Here is my recipe to make good home made crepes:
1 cup flour
2 tablespoons of melted butter or a 1/4 of a cup of oil
1/4 tea spoon salt
1 egg
(i add 1 teaspoon of sugar if i am going to use them for sweet crepes) optional.
You don't need a special pan to make crepes, a small nonstick pan will work just fine. Whisk everything in a bowl until smooth. The batter will be watery.
Heat up a nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Using a ladle pour the batter right in the middle of the pan till u get the size u want. You have to coat the pan first with some butter (a very light coat though). In a few seconds the sides will turn golden and start turning upwards from the pan and all the watery batter would have cooked from yr side up. Flip it to the other side and leave in for a few more seconds then serve.
If it is still not the ones u want check out this site it has all the pancake recipes u could want http://www.bbonline.com/recipe/pancakes....
As for the sauces, sorry i use ready made chocolate or caramel sauce. i even add some bananas and fold the crepe in half or quarter and pour the chocolate syrup onto it.
Now, the hibiscus drink, the teabags mixture will never taste the same, u have to buy them from supermarkets or shops selling them. then u take a cup of hibiscus mixture (they look like a dried dark red roses) and put them in 1 liter of cold water for i day, (preferable, coz they also help to lower the blood pressure this way). There is a quicker way, if u put them in hot water for an hour then put them in the fridge and just strain them and drink straight away.
Hope i helped.
edit: i forgot to tell u to add sugar according to yr liking to the strained hibiscus drink.

Safe tea's during first trimester?
Im really confused regarding safe non-caffinated teas. I figured herbal teas would be best since they are caffeine free so I started reading some sites and some people say some teas are safe but other say differently.
I really enjoy drinking Lipton Herbal Lemon tea. It contains hibiscus, rose hips, orange peel, roasted chicory root, lemon grass and citric acid.
Can anyone help me to figure out if this would be safe to drink? I am 8 weeks and 3 days.
Safe tea's during first trimester?
You should not have hibiscus.
Which teas are not safe?
Many of the herbs used for teas, when taken in large or medicinal amounts, can potentially stimulate the uterus and induce miscarriage. These include anise, catnip, chamomile, comfrey, ephedra (called ma huang in traditional Chinese medicine), European mistletoe, hibiscus, horehound, Labrador, lemongrass, licorice root, mugwort, pennyroyal, raspberry leaf, rosemary, sage, sassafras, stinging nettle leaf, vetiver, and yarrow.
Although some midwives use raspberry leaf (also known as red raspberry leaf) to aid delivery, its effectiveness hasn't been proven. In any case, it should be used only near term and under the supervision of a healthcare professional. Avoid the rest of the herbs in this list during pregnancy and lactation.
Note: You can still eat food that contains herbs like rosemary and sage, because the amounts used in food are generally much smaller than those used in tea — and not as potent (the brewing process for making tea concentrates the chemicals of the herbs).
Among other reasons to avoid certain herbs used in teas:
? Coca (also known as mate de coca) contains small amounts of cocaine.
? Comfrey, kava root, skullcap, valerian, and woodruff may damage your liver.
? Lobelia contains nicotine.
? Mate (or yerba mate) can contain as much caffeine as coffee.
None of these herbs should be taken while you're pregnant or nursing.
Reply:Most teas are unsafe if you drink too much of them, but stay away from teas with any of these herbs : anise, catnip, chamomile, comfrey, ephedra (me huang), hibiscus, horehound, lemon grass, licorice root, mugwort, rosemary, sage, sassafras, even red raspberry leaf. Red raspberry leaf is commonly used by midwives to stimulate the uterus and can therefore induce a miscarriage.
Reply:There are a few companies like Traditional Medicinals that have a tea called 'Pregnancy Tea'. It's mostly red raspberry leaf- with strengthens the uterus. I've been drinking peppermint tea, which is very good for helping the digestion. The lipton tea that you are drinking sounds fine. And even the occasional cup of caffeine is totally fine- I drank some black tea this morning- because I am SO tired- I'm 8 weeks pregnant also! Congrats on your pregnancy:)
Reply:i know how u feel, 10 weeks tomorrow and i feel like i cant eat or drink anything!! I would say have it, dont think it can harm anything, im not a bad mum but they didnt have any of this stuff around a hundred years and people didnt come out with loads of disabilities! Im sure you can though on a serious note! if it dont have a warning on the back of the pack you should be fine! x
Reply:There's a brand called "Celestial Seasonings", they are caffeine free and come in all flavors ( I suggest the red vanilla, it's delicious!!). You can find them in any grocery store.
Reply:I love lipton. It sounds like it should be safe, but I've never been pregnant, so I'd call your geinacologyst (ZOMG so hard to spell) or at least pediatrician, some sort of doctor. They should know.
Reply:Ive been having the same question over teas so just to be safe ive stuck to hot lemon and orange water made with fresh fruit...but after finding this link i think im gonna brew up some red rasberry leaves.
Hope you find it useful too:
* Red Raspberry Leaf (Likely Safe) - Rich in iron, this herb has helped tone the uterus, increase milk production, decrease nausea, and ease labor pains. Many of the “Pregnancy Teas” commonly contain Red Raspberry leaf to help promote uterine health during pregnancy.
There is some controversy about whether this should be used throughout pregnancy or just in the second and third trimester, so many health care providers will remain cautious and only recommend using it after the first trimester.
* Peppermint Leaf (Likely Safe) - Helpful in relieving nausea/morning sickness and flatulence.
* Lemon Balm (Likely Safe) - Has a calming effect and helps relieve irritability, insomnia and anxiety.
* Ginger root (Possibly Safe) -Helps relieve nausea and vomiting.
* Dandelion (Insufficient Reliable Information Available) - Rich in Vitamin A, calcium and iron; dandelion root and leaf can also help relieve mild edema and nourish the liver.
* Chamomile (German) (Insufficient Reliable Information Available) - High in calcium and magnesium; also helps with sleeplessness and inflammation of joints.
* Nettles (Stinging Nettles) -(Likely Unsafe-see note ) High in vitamins A, C, K, calcium, potassium and iron. Used in many “Pregnancy Teas” because it is a great all-around pregnancy tonic. (*Note on the safety of Nettles: Natural Medicines Database gives Nettles a rating of Likely Unsafe, even though it is used in countless pregnancy teas and recommended by most midwives and herbalists. This may be in relation to which part of the Nettles plant is used, the root or the leaves, and how much is used. According to other sources, the use of Nettles is encouraged during pregnancy because of all its health benefits.2)
* Rose Hips (Insufficient Reliable Information Available) - Very good source of Vitamin C and helps boost the immune system.
* Alfalfa (Possibly Unsafe) - Has Vitamin A, D, E and K; particularly good in later pregnancy to boost Vitamin K, which helps prevent postpartum hemorrhage.
* Yellow Dock (Possibly Unsafe) - Used to help treat anemia in pregnant women due to the high level of iron. Also contains Vitamins A, C and calcium. *(this may also be used as a laxative - talk with your health care provider about the use of Yellow Dock during pregnancy).

Anybody have tattoos and/or piercings?
i am 14 years old. i have one tattoo and i am getting another one right after school gets out. i have 19 piercings. 18 of them are on my ears and the other is on my nose. the only "weird" piercings i have are my tragus on both sides. for those of you who dont know who that is, it's that little flappy piece on your ear closet to your face. and the only other "weird" piercing i have is my rook on my right side. that is the really thick piece of cartilage, kind of below where you would get a regular cartilage piercing and just above the tragus. my tattoo is a hibiscus on my ankle and my next tattoo is going to be a ladybug on my foot. tell me about your tattoos and piercings. i love to hear about them. i am addicted, but i know im not alone!

I've still got one below the belt though ;)
Tattoos. There's the real obsession. I have 7 and I sit and design more all the time. I recently started tattooing with my roommate as a hobby and I'm currently doing a rework of a really old tattoo of his. I've given myself one so far and did one for another friend of mine, and my roommate gave me a new one a few months ago. I love tattoos- getting them, giving them, drawing them, looking at them!

Is this tea safe?? I am six weeks pregnant.?
The tea is "sweet dreams" herb tea by bigelow. The ingredients are chamomile, hibiscus, peppermint leaves, rose blossoms, spearmint leaves, spice, and orange blossoms. I am thinking of drinking it to help relieve migraines. Would it be safe to drink it? What about drinking it with two tea bags steeped at once?? And also what about 1-2 bags steeped for like 20 minutes. Thanks for your help. (there is supposed to be a length of time to steep tea that will make it medicinal strength, anyone know off hand how long that is and would it be safe to do?) Thanks so much for your help:)
Is this tea safe?? I am six weeks pregnant.?
I am so glad you asked!
you wouldn't want to brew it that long it would be so astringent your mouth would pucker
steer away from the mints: peppermint, spearmint
and one of the ingredients in that tea is catnip, you do not want that
especially since it is also a mint
it would take a whole lot mind you, but plants in the mint family used to be used for abortions
It can cause complications, especially at the strength you are talking
any herbal tea is wise to check out good job!
and herbal tea usually doesn't do well with long brews, I mean as little as 2 minutes may be enough
Reply:Use anything herbal in moderation while you are pregnant. A few bags a day of any herbal Bigelow tea should be fine, but if you drink very large quantities, you might see some effects of some of the herbs.
Reply:if it is caffiene free it should be alright. Just be careful because tea has been known to lower your iron :( as for the steeping for medicinal strength im not too sure.
Reply:This is what I found:
Teas that are not safe during pregnancy: These include anise, catnip, chamomile, comfrey, ephedra (called ma huang in traditional Chinese medicine), European mistletoe, hibiscus, horehound, Labrador, lemongrass, licorice root, mugwort, pennyroyal, raspberry leaf, rosemary, sage, sassafras, stinging nettle leaf, vetiver, and yarrow.
Check out the link below!
Reply:You just don't want to much caffine is all.....some of that is caffine free, if not, just limit it. No biggie. I drank small amounts of caffine when i was pregnant but wouldn't drink imatation sugars, no diet drinks. I wouldn't take any medicines either, so good job on relieving your headaches with a natural rememdy.....good luck and congrats on the baby!!
Reply:As far as I know, avoid any teas with raspberry leaf, which can promote early labor. The rest of the ingredients sound similar to the ingredients in my morning sickness tea from our local apothecary, and I had a healthy 8lb baby a day before her due date. When in doubt, take it easy on the tea until asking your doctor :)

Passion tea while pregnant?
i had the startbucks passion iced tea and now i read it contains no caffine but has hibiscus extracts. not sure if it can harm my baby. am 18weeks. anyone else had herbal teas? anyone aware of hibiscus effects?
Passion tea while pregnant?
I found this at www.babycenter.com
It says that's hibiscus isn't safe.
None of these herbs should be taken
Reply:I would probably not drink it since you are not aware of possible effects of hibiscus.
Reply:Actually a Hhibiscus extracts Hhibiscus Suff- something can't remember is being tested for pregnancy weight loss post partum. So maybe in a couple of years it will be something.
Reply:herbal teas doesnt hurm you.who said that???

I had the white ones when i got married i held them with the long steams and a purple ribbon wrapped around the stem all the way down . the only thing is it all depends on the time of year you get married i got married in aug. and they were not in season then so it was very expensive to get fresh so i opted for silk they were still very nice and looked real
Reply:I love calla lilies and I hope to be able to use them for my own wedding; however, many people, especially here in the South, consider the Calla Lily a flower best suited for funerals. If you ask my mother, marriages might as well be funerals.
Reply:Yeah, I agree with Janet. For some reason I link cala lilies to funerals. But people seem to like them for weddings too. I'd cut out the anthers though, if you get that on your dress it's very hard to get out.
Reply:Calla lilies are beautiful wedding flowers. Look at the fourth photo down on this page.

Reply:I think they are gorgeous and are great for weddings. The only problem with them is if you have allergies, because the sap that comes out of the stems can give you a rash.

Getting my first tattoo in about 4 weeks... HELP!?
I am 17yrs old in a couple of months ill be 18. I have aways wanted a tatoo, i know what i want i just dont know where to get it. I want to get it somewhere sexy and hott. I was thinking on my lower back in the middle or on my upper butt. its nothing big, its a little hibiscus about no bigger then an inch or two...
Getting my first tattoo in about 4 weeks... HELP!?
It's your body girl!!!!! Put it in a place where you feel comfortable. Ask yourself,is it for others to see or only for you. If it's only for you then you can have it on your butt but if it's for others to see then you can have it on your back. I'm sure it can be seen with low-ride pants. But one advice. If having a small tattoo don put it on your lower back as it won't look nice but if that's wat you want then go for it.
Reply:Don't get a "tramp stamp" on your lower back EVERYONE has a tattoo there, go original!
Reply:Sounds great, you might want to consider getting it a little bigger..
Reply:I would wait until I was older. I think back to when I was 18 (I'm 25 now) and I don't even know who that person was. I would be totally unhappy if I got a tatoo then because my style is so different now.
But if you wont change your mind, Good luck!
Reply:I have a tattoo on my lower back but it is pretty big and when I was going in she (my tattoo artist) said not to get one that is too small on your lower back or it will kinda look lost another thing to keep in mind when your getting a tattoo on your back is that you can't really see it everyone else can see it if you want them to but you like never get to see it. Another thing to think about with tattoos on your lower back is when and if you ever have kids depending on where it is on your back you might not be able to get an epidural I was very lucky that my tattoo wasn't any higher up on my back the anaesthesiologist told me that if my tattoo was a little higher I wouldn't have been able to get an epidural and he said some anaesthesiologist won't do it period on someone with a back tattoo (jerks) .. it was something I never thought about when I got the tattoo about 5 years ago but I'm so glad that it was okay I don't know if I would have been able to make it Through labour with out one good luck
Reply:I got my first tattoo for my 18th as well, and I was wanting to go into a professional position when i get into a career. So it needed to be able to be covered, and so I got mine on my lower back. Mine was Celtic looking, so it was bigger, a hibiscus would look hot up on a shoulder too, especially if its smaller. So, it depends on how discreet you need to be.
Reply:Before getting a tattoo, really think about what you want to have done and where on your body it will go. This isn't something you should be asking perfect strangers about. It has to be what you want, what will make you the most happy for the rest of your life and will fit your lifestyle.
I waited several months between deciding that I wanted a second tattoo to make sure that I knew exactly what design I wanted and that I was happy with where I was planning to have it done. It was worth the wait and I haven't regreted it for a single moment since.

Original tattoo idea?
a hibiscus flower , south floridas popular flower, with a pin-up girl as the stigma and staminal column, which is the long skinny part sticking out of the center of the flower.
also would this be considered odd for a man to have?
Original tattoo idea?
Hmm, interesting and original indeed. However, I'm just wondering how it will look on you when you're 65...

Making my own Artifical Bouquets?
I want to make my own artifical bouquets... But i want brilliant blues and teals.... can you die the artifical flowers? or is there any sites i can pick out my own one by one i prefeer tropical flowers hibiscus or roses .... help would be great thanx!
Making my own Artifical Bouquets?
Use a water-based floral spray paint on any flowers made of a porous fabric. Water-based floral paints are not toxic or flammable like regular spray paints, and they don't make the silk stiff, as many other paints do. If you are buying flowers specifically to paint them, look for the low-cost white petals rather than the more expensive colored ones.
Steps:
Shake the can of paint for one minute, then spray each flower lightly. If the color is too intense, spray the wet paint with water to dilute it.
Let each flower dry for 30 minutes, or use a hair dryer for faster results.
To add a second color to the edges of the petals, spray the paint into a pan or bowl, and dip the edges of the petals into it. To soften the color, spray the flower with water.
Reply:Most craft stores offer a wide variety of colorful silk flowers. It would save a lot of time on your wedding date, and the flowers won't wilt or die!

Reply:Google it you can find anything that way. You might also want to check with craft stores in your area even check with Wal-Mart, some of them have a large artificial flower selection. Also remember that if you don't see it in the store that does not mean that they can not order a special kind or color for you.

Reply:Google it you can find anything that way. You might also want to check with craft stores in your area even check with Wal-Mart, some of them have a large artificial flower selection. Also remember that if you don't see it in the store that does not mean that they can not order a special kind or color for you.

Food for high blood pressure?
i know that drinking kardadeh tea from the hibiscus plant is good for hight bloody pressure, but can anyone tell me please fi there are any other foolds which can take the bp down. i know to stay off a ful fat diet but i need to know certain specific foofs that do that.
thank you
Food for high blood pressure?
Hi Elsie1912, I get hibiscus tea sent over from Egypt. I think you can get it on the internet too, but I have not found a local shop with it. I don't know of any specific food htat will lower BP on its own. Exercise and plain low fat diet, plus geting rid of stress goes a long way. Limit or don't eat red meat and eggs; up the spinach and green leaf veg; couple of glasses of red wine helps too. I've got my BP now to 125/76. Need to maintain my weight though.
Reply:Porridge for breakfast is a good idea. It makes a good, filling meal so you won't feel like snacking.
High salt levels in food are a major cause of high blood pressure. You can buy low-salt bread now. Tinned vegetables are another source of salt, so frozen are better. Fresh vegetables are, of course, best of all.
Ready made meals are another cause of high salt intake. They may be convenient but that comes at too big a price, your health.
Alcohol and smoking both send the blood pressure rocketing. So if you want to reduce your blood pressure they're both off the menu.
Exercise is another way of reducing blood pressure levels. It might help you loose weight and being overweight is yet another risk factor.
Reply:Only 3 things, other than conventional medication, help with raised blood pressure.
1) Be as close to your ideal weight as possible
2) Take regular vigorous CV exercise
3) Lower your salt intake
Though all of these help, I am afraid I have never seen a patient with established hypertension avoid medication.
If your BP is high enough for your GP to have given you a diagnosis of hypertension it is foolish and dangerous to try and avoid medication. You risk heart attack and stroke!
Reply:Get the salt out of the house, even salt substitutes. Look here www.gicare.com/pated/edtot43.htm
Low fat, little alcohol, bit of exercise, learn to meditate.
Reply:just eat a low salt and low fat diet and lots of friut and veggies it will help a lot, just live a healthy lifestyle...
thank you

Thrum or Pin flower?? Help!?
Pin and thrum flowers are differently shaped flowers of the same species. This is a mechanism for the prevention of self fertilization. "Pin" type flowers have the stigma raised above the anthers, whereas "thrum" flowers have the anthers higher than the stigma. All you have to do now is look at those two particular types of flowers and decide which one is which type.
Reply:What's a "thrum"? And I don't know what pin flowers are either. Clearly not botanical terms.

Size question?
I would like to get a small tattoo on the inside of my wrist, maybe about the size of a quarter. I have tiny wrists and don't want anything too big. I've thought about getting a hibiscus flower, but would it be possible to get that much detail in something so small? Because of the size of my wrists, I don't want to get it done if it has to be too big. What do you think?
Size question?
a hibiscus the size of a quarter would not look very good at all and would only look worse over time. why not get it somewhere else where you can get a good tattoo that is the size it needs to be? i understand wanting a small tattoo on the wrist but you have to get something that is supposed to be small. you can't just take any design and shrink it.
Reply:If you're looking to get a tattoo with great detail, you won't be able to get it as small as a quarter. Being that you want a hibiscus and you want it to have details. Is there any other location on your body that you want a hibiscus tattoo?
Reply:Don't listen to the negetive people telling you about when you are 90 what your body will look like. So many people are getting tattoos now that if you do not have an old tattoo when you are that old you will be the weird one. Make sure you pick it out for you and don't let someone talk you into something. If you lay a quarter on a table and look at it you should get an idea of how much detail could be drawn on something that small. Just deside if you want a lot of detail it may have to be bigger or if you want it plain it can be small. Lots of places to put tatts.
Reply:That small of a tattoo wouldn't be good. If you want the detail good over time that small of a tattoo is going to look like a blur. I suggest you get it on a bigger area so you can get the detail you want without a blur in the next 10 years.
Reply:maybe you should get a tattoo of something that doesnt have much detail... or u could find a different place with more area to get the tattoo. i guess you could go and talk to somebody at a body shop and see what they think about the idea- they might be able to fit it on there so you might as well check with them.
Reply:you will have to go slightley bigger than a quater because if not it will look like one of them kids lolly pop tats what i mean by that is no detail can be fitted into such a small tat
dont worry about the pain i know thats your reall question i smelt the fear
dont worry tell the artist its your first tat and he will go easy on you
anyway tats dont hurt that much or people like me wouldent be covered
Reply:I watch Miami Ink alot, So after so many eps, i notice when someone come in to do a very small tattoo, they will not do it.Cause if u want to have a very small detail tattoo with full color it will look very nice for the first few years. But After that it will look like a very big mole. Cause as we get older our skin will not be as firm and smooth as now. That is what they said. Maybe u can do on your forearm.? But the wrist is a very pretty place to have a tattoo...! Hope this will help..
Reply:over time the tat will fade...but you can get much detail in a tat...the size of a quarter though...not alot of detail there...
Reply:sexylilreadhead... needs to get out of the tattoo section since she obviously knows nothing about them. I wont care what my tats look like at 90, cause my whole body will look like $hit anyway, and looks will be the last thing on my mind.
but yeah, it'll be hard to fit a lot of detail on the wrists.
Reply:A hibiscus quarter size tattoo would be hard to do but what a sweet idea. I've always thought flowers looked really awesome on the back of a neck or shoulder blade, there you would be able to get the detail you want. Awesome idea though.

Red highlights with blonde hair?
I have blonde hair and i want red highlights and I was reading in a book that hibiscus flowers will slowly dye it red but hibiscus flowers are really expensive so I need help for an at home highlighting but I dont want to go to the store and buy some cuz my mom tried that and her hair has turned purple, orange, and a BUNCH of different colors
thanks for your help
Red highlights with blonde hair?
Well, dye would work a lot better than any other home solution. Dye is pretty inexpensive anyway, like maybe 8 bux at Sally's for a bottle that would last you forever. Even if it does turn a different color, is that so bad? Red might get boring after a while, and its good to change it up!
Reply:I'm not so sure you should get red highlights. I'm blonde and if i was you I would go with something a little lighter than that. I got pink highlights and it looks really good. hope this helps,
~Tara :) (")^_^(")
Reply:that wouldn't really go good with blonde

Help finding a specific picture?
A few years ago i happened upon a really cool tribal sticker/tattoo. I have had the plan to get it as a real tattoo for a while, but I've lost the sticker! It was only one of those 50 cent machine stickers...It was three blue and black hibiscus...If you could help me find this image(or even one that's close) I would be very appreciative

Ckae Decorating???
Help. any suggestions on sites _OR_ ways to do a hibiscus flower decoration on a cake??
Anything helps. thnx.
Ckae Decorating???
Hisbiscus flowers are edible. It is easiest to decorate the cake with fresh flowers
http://simplecakedecorating.com/list-of-...
or make candied hibiscus flowers from the fresh flowers:
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-candied...
if you have artistic ability and cake-decorating experiencd, you could use fondant, shape into flowers and paint with food safe coloring (paste food coloring such as Wiltons -- available at Michaels -- has the most intense colors)

Holiday tea blend?
My aunt LOVES tea, and I am trying to buy her a Christmas gift.
I found this website, www.customleaf.com. You create your own tea blend. Im not sure which blend would taste the best.
Which one would taste good??? (www.customleaf.com)
1.) Black tea, gingerbread flavoring, almond, and cinnamon.
2.) Green tea, blueberry, and vanilla
3.) Rooibos tea, cherry and almond
4.) Honeybush tea, rose, hibiscus, ginger, and peach flavoring
HELP!
Holiday tea blend?
I'd slyly try to find out what type of tea your aunt enjoys the most - black or green tea. If she generally prefers black tea, go for #1. If green tea, go for #2.
#3 %26amp; #4 are both herbal blends (no actual tea in them, and no caffeine), so I'd steer clear of those if she really likes tea...though they both sound delicious!
Reply:Black tea with Cinnamon sounds the most festive to me!
Reply:# 4 sounds good to me.
Reply:i would choose #2.

Cross Pollinating Plants?
What is the best way to cross pollinate roses? Also can any two plans be cross pollinated to create a hybrid or only two plants of the same species. For example can you cross polinate Rose-Hibiscus or just Rose-Rose?
Cross Pollinating Plants?
species form when groups of plants become unable to breed with one another. that's the definition of species. It is however, more loosely applied with plants. Some species, generally those not distantly separated by evolution, can cross-breed. Most however cannot. Each example is individual. It's about SEXUAL COMPATIBILITY; whether the pollen and the egg are compatible enough to make a new plant. As a rule of thumb, the more similar two plant species seem, the more genetically related they are and the more chance there is of a successful coupling taking place. Hibiscus and Roses are in entirely different plant families, very distantly related and therefore almost certain not to be compatible.
Reply:When pollen grains are transfered from the anthers of one flower to the stigma of another flower,it is called cross-pollination or allogamy.
Reply:The best way to cross pollinate roses is to take pollen from one rose and put it in the pistma of the other type of rose. I don`t know about mixing two different plants, but mixing same species like roses probably would work. If you want to know for sure do experiments.

Can you please find me a picture of this design?
I found luggage at this store named Bentley about a year ago and I'm trying to track it down now, or at least the fabric. It is black with bright hawaiian hibiscuses, and bright green leaves. It's really girly and tropical looking.
I found a similar fabric on a Roxy makeup bag, but I can't seem to find a picture of it. Can you please find me one?!

First tattoo!!! help!!! i'm stuck on figuring out what i want!!?
i'm 18 and this will be my first tattoo. but i'm having trouble figurning out what to add to it. so far all i've figured out is that i want the words "Carpe Diem", which mean 'seize the day' in latin. i want to put it on my upper back, righ below my neck. at first i was thinking of putting a hibiscus flower above the words, but then i changed my mind. and now i'm completly stuck. if you have GOOD ideas please let me know. pictures are a good help too. thanks! :)
ps: i might go with just a flower, but i dont know what kind. or maybe something that will bring me good luck :)

This one is veryyyyyy cute. Or you could have them do it in an old english font, since its in latin. You could make it smaller for your upper back. If you did do a flower, apple blossoms are gorgeous, and they're a symbol of good luck.

Good luck and i'm sure it will look great. :)
Reply:You sound pretty certain about the Carpe Diem part so why don't you just start with that. You don't have to decide right away what else you want to put there. You have the rest of your life to decide, so don't force it. If your experience is anything like mine, when you know what you want, you won't have any doubts and you'll hardly be able to wait to get it done.
Reply:well done for getting a tattoo, i have 2 now and want more,
the question you have to ask yourself is this, why do i want a tatt, your first will be your most important, the second is where to put it my 1st was on m y upper arm, my second is bigger and is on my upper back
if you don't mind me asking why on the back of your neck?
you must think of your future where you may end up working may have a policy on visible tattoos,
you will know what you want when you see it, i did i walked IN a tattoo place saw the dolphin and thought yep, word of warning try not to go too big 1st time, it does hurt, well more like a little burn
good luck let me know wat you decide on
i ahve my dolphin and a indian tribal feather.
Reply:www.bmezine.com has so many pictures of tattoos it would take you ages to go through them all. BUT they should be able to inspire you some. There's a section specifically for flowers too.
Reply:Well that's the fun about getting tattoo's. Getting one that has been picked out and/or designed by you and being absolutely certain that, that's specifically the one you want for the rest of your life.
I would offer suggestions but being a tattoo enthusiast, its hard to do. Every tattoo I have holds a meaning or story behind it, I dont look at designs and say "I want that!"
So I would say, take time... your old enough now to legally get one, and it will be with you for the rest of your life. Take time, think it over and when you've figured it out, you'll know. You'll feel in your heart that that tattoo is THE one!
Good Luck!

Herbal tea during pregnancy?
I have been drinking a caffeine free herbal tea by Celestial Seasonings, Lemon zinger flavor. Been consuming at least two servings on a daily basis. The ingredients are:
Hibiscus, rosehips, roasted chicory, orange peel, west indian lemongrass, lemon peel and whole dried lemons. Does anyone know if this is safe to consume during pregnancy?
Herbal tea during pregnancy?
I drink the Celestial Seasonings Blueberry tea. none of the ingredients you named can cause harm to your unborn fetus. Rosehips tea is a great source of vitamin C, it also helps to ease headaches, dizziness, and prevents bladder infections. and Hibiscus tea helps lower cholesterol and high blood pressure. Nothing wrong with that, right? Enjoy!
Reply:I drink a pregnancy tea like the girl above me!
It's really good, and it's good for you and your baby!
but i don't see anything wrong with what you drink now.
Reply:That should be fine, it's those funky non store brand teas that you need to worry about. Make sure there is no warning label on it for pregnant women. Also, I drink a pregnancy tea available at health food stores. It helps make your uterus strong.

I can't find any red raspberry tea?
I can't find any red raspberry tea, is raspberry zinger tea "with hibiscus" the same thing to induce labor?
I can't find any red raspberry tea?
I've found red raspberry leaf tea (not the same as a raspberry zinger) in health food stores (like GNC) or in the health food section of the grocery store. It's usually not in with the regular tea.
Also, it doesn't really induce labor - it's supposed to "tone" your uterus, and is supposed to be good to drink after 32 weeks, I think. You need to drink it quite a few times a day.
Reply:I'm in the same boat. I read the ingredients and there ARE raspberry leaves in it...which is supposed to be the ingredient, but I just don't know if there is ENOUGH of it in there!
Reply:my niece just had her baby, %26amp; she went to an herbal pharmacist, %26amp; the pharmacist gave her red raspberry tea to flatten her stomach, (back to normal size) i dont know about inducing labor, but find an herbal pharmacist, they have it.
Reply:My neighbor made me "homemade" raspberry leaf tea on my due date. It was in August so the leaves were around in the yard. I did go into labor that night but I don't think it had anything to do with the tea...just a coincidence.
Reply:red raspberry tea does not induce labor , it tones the uterus and help bring contractions together when they start, You can find it at the health food store!! I`m actually making some right now!!

What should i add to my tattoo?
..Some color
Reply:Is it colored, or is it just a black outline? It does look a little bland, but if it had bright colors, I think it would look beautiful.
Reply:Is it colored or just as it is...? If it's not colored, add some color to it....if it has color, maybe add some little cute bug like a butterfly, a bumble bee, etc....sort of like it fluttering around the flowers......just a suggestion.
Reply:your name over it in some cool font like old english
Reply:Colors!!! I think it would look really pretty if you made the flower 2 colors, with one in the center (the bottoms of the petals) and then another color at the tips of the petals (like maybe yellow center and pink tips.) You should add a blue halo-ish background too. (Or any color.)
If you don't like the colors idea, you could do grey-tone shading, or add some little animals or something. You could put a caterpillar on one of the leaves to make it kind of cartoony, or you could add a hummingbird, because those are always pretty.
You could also add roots to the bottom. The cutaway look at the roots of plants always looks neat. You could make them look kind of abstract if you wanted to (like tribal or arabesque-ish) or you could put some kind of symbolism into the way they're shaped. The cascading roots could also look really cool depending on how they fell on the contours of your foot.
Hope that helped! Good Luck!!
Reply:Color! Maybe a bug with wings on a petal.

Reply:I live in Chicago and that Michigan Bulb hibiscus is really a baby plant. It will be basically a small rooted plant and take a lot of years even to reach a height of a foot.
I have hibiscus here and the heigth is about 3 feet max and a spread no more than two feet diameter.
If you buy that Michigan bulb plant count on it being small for a number of years and even then that looks like second quality stuff to me.

Going to a College Party.. Need Hairstyle Help!!?
My bestfriend is having a party for her 20th birthday at her paratment near the college she attends (she moved away for school). i need to figure out a cute hairstyle for the party. my hair is a bit longer than shoulder length and its really thick. i bought hibiscus flower clips to wear but i need a hairstyle to wear it with. Please Help!
Going to a College Party.. Need Hairstyle Help!!?
Floral hair clips are a bit juvenile for a college party.
Reply:You could:
1. Tie it in half and clip on the hibiscus flower clips on the top part, leaving tendrils to frame your face.
or
2. Pull your hair to one side (high, middle, low- doesn't matter), curl it so that it's wavy (if you already have wavy hair, that's great!) and stick the clips on top.
or
3. Pull your hair into a loose chignon and put the hibiscus flower clips on the side.
or
4. Make two small side braids, one on each side of your head and just right above the ear (you can make it thick or thin braids, really up to you), then pull them back and tie the ends together, and clip the flower clips at the ends.
or
5. Take the top half of your hair and twist it into a bun, pin it securely then clip the flower clips on top.
There's really a lot of things you can do with your hair, really. I hope this helps. Have fun!
Reply:just be yourself!
wear it like you would wear to any party!
blow dry it or something!
Reply:try these retro styles which use flower grips-

Have fun!

What reminds you of home?
I grew up in Woodstock...even though there aren't too any hippies around anymore, Fleetwood Mac reminds me. That and hibiscus. There's this house where they sell stuff--mostly hippie art or anything to do with the 60's for the tourists--on the first floor and on the wall with the patio, there's this huge wooden cut out painting of a hibiscus.
What reminds you of home?
Dell's lemonade, coffee milk, pizza strips, and walking down cracked sidewalks with big, beautiful trees on both sides of the street among many other things. The first three things are unique to home because I haven't seen them sold anywhere else. I was in New England.
Hot, bright days, red clay, traffic, and sweet tea remind me of my current home in the South.
Reply:i have no "home"...no joke...i constantly moving from place to place so like i never had a "home"...when i get a house of my own...then THAT will be "home"...

Sources of traditional medicines?
what are the sources of traditional medicine such as Aloe vera, betel, bitter gourd, clove, coconut, garlic, ginseng, hibiscus, papaya, tamarind, tumeric, lemon-grass, 'pegaga' plant and 'tongkat ali'?
Sources of traditional medicines?
99% of the 'natural' medicines that are used were developed in india thousands of years ago. Thus all of these items are found in india.
Reply:What do you mean by sources?? As you yourself can see, all the medicines you listed out are plants.. And plants are the sources.. but i'm not sure if that's the answer you're looking for..
If you are asking where we get those items now... the answer is- everywhere.. that's the best part of traditional medicines.. most of those stuff can be purchased off a grocery store, or would be found growing in your backyard..
Some of the more exotic stuff are grown specially for their medicinal value.. in India, we get those stuff in "Ayurvedic" shops.. some of them are grown by the indian forest department.. and some by private enterpreneurs..
If you are asking for the source of the knowledge.. well.. it must have been a result of observation over generations..
Someone notices that when you have a particular disease, eating something makes it better and eating something else makes it worse.. then they use this observation to help their children.. and so on..
Somewhere down the line, shamans, preists, etc who were responsible for curing the ill would have done some research and accumulated all such knowledge.. and once that happens, well... its passed on from master to desciple..
Reply:I know only 3 variants of Ginseng. American Ginseng from Alaska, Little Red Ginseng from Korea/Japan, and Green Ginseng from Yunnan, China.
Reply:dense forests of india...sundarbans,western ghats of india
or any ayurvedic shops...still easier himalaya herbal products

Tuesdays with Morrie life box?
After reading the book, we were asked to create a "life box" including objects that Morrie would have put in a box before he died or something that describes him. So far all I have is a hibiscus plant and an hour glass to represent his dwindling time.
Tuesdays with Morrie life box?

A diary or journal. A photo book. a shot glass (empty of course)

Good tattoo gallery sites?
Anyone know any good sites that has FREE tattoo flash galleries? Or just sites that show different tattoo styles (specifically hibiscus flowers or ankle tattoos in general) besides bmeink and eviltattoo? Thanks!
Good tattoo gallery sites?
Bodymod.org Google Images,Tattooartists.org,about.com tattoofinder.com OR you can try just doing a search for hibiscus flowers, and take a picture to your artist, As long as its a decent size they can work with it, Also Flower tattoos look amazing with no black lines, So ask the artist if they can do it without no lines, =) Just a few hints, I'll post a link below of a flower tattoo my boyfriend done a few weeks back with no lines,
Reply:www.bmeink.com has an awesome gallery. Everything is catagorized and you can search for exactly what you want.
Reply:bodymod.org has a wide variety.

Making my own loose-leaf tea...?
I bought some herbs lately that are known to be good for making my own loose-leaf teas.
I think I can use just the herbs. Am I right? Or do I need actual tea leaves, too? The book I am using didn't seem to imply that I need tea leaves too, and that rather, I could just use the herbs...but now I'm not sure.
Would it be safe to use just the herbs? Some of the ones I bought were lavender, hibiscus, nettles, lemon balm, peppermint, and jasmine.
Websites would be helpful, but really I'm looking for a good answer from someone who makes his or her own teas.
Thanks so much!!!
Making my own loose-leaf tea...?
I think that is a great idea! If you notice, most of the herbal teas are those things that you have bought. I'm not sure if the hibiscus is the same hibiscus in those teas, but it might be. I have some loose leaf spearmint, and I know it's just spearmint leaves ground up, probably marketed for tea.
Is it safe? I'm not sure, but I can see how those things will make you sick. I don't think they're lethal either. I don't know any websites, but try WWW. adagio.com
and click under Herbal teas....you might recognize some of those herbs. good luck
Reply:I don't make my own loose leaf tea, but I buy it. I do not recall seeing actual tea leaves in all of my teas. Some have them in, and some I cannot find any, I think those are just herbs. The only thing I can think is that if you just used peppermint and water, I don't know that you would get the same flavor as peppermint with tea leaves and water. I think it will require some experimentation on your part to see what you like. If the book does not refer to tea leaves though, then I wouldn't fret over it.....Good luck!
Reply:You can use just herbs, you would just be making an herbal tea. Most likely this is all you'll want to do as actual tea leaves can be more complicated to dry than herbs. If you want actual tea blended with your herbs you can just buy those leaves already prepared and blend them yourself.
I make my own herbal tea from peppermint I grow in my garden. Just take caution when selecting the plants you're using, make sure they are not toxic.
