Hibiscus tree?

when i got it it was a stick now shoots have grown,do i leave it or prune it and is it a climber and does it like windy spots?thanks
Hibiscus tree?
It's a very lovely tree. I wouldn't prune it just yet. Give it a few more months and then chop it back. I wouldn't have it in a very windy spot. Morning sunshine is better than midday sunshine. Good luck!
Reply:HIBISCUS TREE IS A LOVING SUN PLANT!!!! KEEP IT IN DIRECT SUN IN SUMMER AND BE CAREFULLY IN COLD TIME!IT DOESN'T SUPPORT COLD! IF YOU WANT TO OBTAIN A REAL BEAUTIFUL TREE ,CUT THE PLANT AT 1 M OF SOIL AND THEN KEEP CUTTING THE MARGINAL BRANCHES ,FORMING A NICE TREE! NEED ENGROSSMENT FOR RICH FLOWERING!GOOD CHANCE!!
Reply:it's not a climber prune if you have to, it will grow into a tree if left alone.

Reply:i have two in pots in my garden it is very windy and thy are okay thy are just starting to flower again . i prune then when the leafs fall off.Ive had them 5 years
Reply:I have had a hibiscus for some time. It loves the sunshine, doesn't like too much shade and definitely shouldn't be anywhere too windy.

I've never had to prune it and it still flowers every year. I also think it likes some space, not crowded in with other plants.
Reply:It would really help if you would say what zone you are in. I live in coastal south and have several hibiscus plants. They can be cut all the way to the ground and will come back each year here. Prune in dormant months. It is flexible and can take wind, but the flowers cannot. They are fragile and only last a day usually, the the tree blooms daily. depends how much wind you are talking about.
