If there was anything in the water, like sugar or plant nutrients, they are left in the circuitry after the water drys. That can cause flakey operation immediately or over time as dust gathers on the residue.

I would disassemble the system and clean off the parts (motherboard and PCI boards) with whatever replaced the freon-based cleaners we used to use. Ask a couple of computer shops what they use to clean boards.

I have never been inside an LCD monitor, so could not recommend a cleaning procedure there.

As others said, immediately shut off a wet system till thoroughly dry. Power supplies and CRT monitors have high voltage and are especially prone to extreme damage.
Reply:It's too late now, but for future reference, if your PC gets water in it, IMMEDIATELY unplug it and let it dry out before you try to turn it on again.
Reply:turn off every wet device and wait until they become dry

it's a high risk to let them work when they are still wet
Reply:Get new room-mates!
Reply:give more hours or day to dry, just to make sure the liquid is all gone.
