Pine tree was destroyed..actually exploded. The surrounding shrubs (Hibiscus) have started to yellow....are they shot or will they come back?....thanks
Have recently had a Pine Tree struck by lightning in my back yard. What can I do about surrounding plants?
All plant food, like miracle-gro to your shrubs, your'll be fine.
Reply:Cut them way back..at least 2 or 3 feet off of them then fertilize with a hibiscus food...
Reply:They'll come back. They are probebly in a state of shock. Give them some ,"Qwick Start" . That's for transplant shock, but it wouldn't hurt them to get a little. It's like vitamin B-12. Bye
Reply:When you are handed a lemon--- make lemonade!!! I had a storm take out several trees once-ALABAMA-- It left ugly stumps sticking up that the tree remover could not get out. I had them take out as much of the trees as possible and then planted azaleas and other tall growing shrubs around the stumps. Plant Shrubs that will grow fast and cover the area that was hit by lightning-- Like I said --I made lemonade from the ugliness the storm left. I also planted large hydrangea bushes among the azaleas so that when they blood they peeked out from the azalea bushes. People came to my house to take pictures of the beauty that was borne from the storm in about two years. It turned into a beautiful place with bloming flowers!!!
Good luck to you in turning the area into something of beauty. It only takes a little imagination to make any area pretty. Study your area - whether it needs sun or shade plants and then start digging.
