What is the best way tend Malvaviscus (a plant similar to Hibiscus)?

It has been scraggy for 2 years. But this summer it really started growing.

I wonder if I am to cut it a bit to make it burst it into blossom or it is better to leave it as it is - that is a strong green plant.

And what are your hints to its better growing and coming into bloom?

And where do you keep it in winter? Does it need a resting phase with little water (how often it is to be watered then) and low temperature (how much?)

Thank you very much for your answer in advance!

Malaviscus arboreus, commonly known as Turks Cap is a relative of hibiscus.

It will grow in sun or shade, but needs sun to produce flowers. It is also hardier than hibiscus and can stand a little frost. Otherwise culture is the same as for hibiscus.

Wait until weather warms up, then prune off the top 1/3 - fertilize - water - it should bloom on new growth.
